Beer, Babies and Dogs

February 14, 2016 Fetching Wonderland

Only in the Pacific Northwest are dogs, babies and board games all warmly welcomed into your neighborhood brewery. And frankly, Steve and I have taken to this local pastime quite nicely.

With work, social outings and other commitments, we are gone so often during the week that on weekends we don’t want our pup to be left at home any more than necessary. That girl likes to get out! So while parents look for kid-friendly spots, we’re in the habit of looking for dog-friendly places. We want our local brewery to love Daisy as much as we do (and vice versa!). Some of our favorite dog-friendly breweries happen to make some tasty beers too. Our top 5 include:

Fremont Brewing

Stoup Brewing

Reuben's Brews

Hillards Beer

Two Beers Brewing Co

We are constantly on the lookout for new, exciting, must-see breweries to check out. We especially love the ones with great IPAs on tap. Do you have any favorite dog-friendly places to share?

Some alternative dog-friendly options are:

Lucky Envelope Brewing

Tin Dog Brewing

Hale’s Ales

Populuxe Brewing

Urban Family Brewing

Schooner EXACT Brewing

Bad Jimmy’s Brewing Company

Outlander Brewery & Pub

Schilling Cider House

Rooftop Brewing Company

Peddler Brewing Company

Jolly Roger Taproom

NW Peaks Brewery

Machine House Brewery

Seattle Summers

July 25, 2015 Fetching Wonderland
IMG_3342.JPG

Summertime is the place to be in Seattle. It is absolutely stunning. And, what makes the long drizzly winters bearable. And although it is the time of year for vacationing, we've committed ourselves to sticking around the Pacific Northwest during the summer months and traveling during the rest of the year. We've been spending most weekends hiking, biking and day tripping to anywhere and everywhere.

This weekend, we explored the well-known (and well-worn) Lake 22 trail. It’s 5.4 miles round-trip and an elevation gain of 1350 ft and most importantly, dog friendly! We completed the hike in about 5 hours. The best part being the pack lunch (complete with a few Fremont Brewing IPAs) that we treated ourselves to at the top! Although the hike is moderate, this trail sees nearly every hiking Seattleite during the summer months. If you’re looking for a serene “one-with-nature” kind of experience, this is probably not the trail for you. We enjoyed in none-the-less.

What are you up to this weekend?

Sun, Sand, and Surf

August 25, 2014 Fetching Wonderland
Lacanau-Océan

Lacanau Océan is an easy going sea-side surf village. The area of Lacanau fills each summer as French and other Europeans make their way to the sun and surf. Arriving, it's easy to see why many French return to the region year after year. Lacanau has a very informal atmosphere, and the local area is a natural haven for enjoying the outdoors.

There are several lakes just a few kilometers inland that have been created by streams unable to reach the sea. Many are connected by canals, and most are bordered by lush pine forests.

Strolling the Hills of Saint-Émilion

August 18, 2014 Fetching Wonderland
Strolling Saint-Émilion

Set amid picturesque rolling hills, Saint-Émilion is one of Bordeaux's more popular tourists destinations – and because the grape is dominantly Merlot, the wines are easier to approach before their tenth birthday. The medieval village of Saint-Émilion, together with its surrounding vineyards, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.
