Today, the legacy of Soviet times is evident as you walk the many streets which encapsulate the spirit of days gone by. Its traditions are as varied and colorful as its people, with Eastern and European traditions closely interwoven. But what remains most vivid is the hospitality of the people that we encountered along the way.
Our trip was organized through the American University of Paris and the Cross-Cultural and Sustainable Business Management program. Our Itinerary took us to Almaty and Astana over the course of 10 days. While Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat character may have imprinted in the minds of many Americans a sense of ridiculousness about Kazakhstan, there is little that is ridiculous about this sprawling global business hub.
